Impressions from Vienna

This year’s open panel explored the Methodological Interactions between Biblical Studies and Systematic Theology. The papers examined both actual and envisioned forms of interdisciplinary engagement and offered concrete examples of theological work in practice.

For an overview of the presentations, please see https://scriptureandtheology.org/panels/panels-2025/.

The AMC this year concluded with a focus on Frances Young’s two-volume work Scripture and Doctrine in Early Christianity. We are grateful to the European Academy of Religion and the University of Vienna for making it possible to host a hybrid panel on this occasion.

A tentative outcome of the discussions is a proposal to shift the publication process to a two-year cycle—further information will follow.

As always, we enjoyed our annual Scripture & Theology dinner, and were treated to Viennese hospitality at the EuARe Gala Dinner.

Next year’s meeting will take place in Rome, from June 30 to July 3, 2026.

In the meantime, we encourage ongoing collaboration across the various projects (see https://scriptureandtheology.org/publications-and-projects/). Please reach out to the respective project representatives—or feel free to contact Michael directly at michael.borowski@gmx.de.
