Call for Papers: EABS Annual Conference 2027, London

The call for papers for the 2027 Annual Conference of the European Association of Biblical Studies (EABS) will open soon. The conference will be hosted by University College London, 28th June–1st July 2027. The Scripture & Theology Forum meets at the conference through the EABS research unit “Scripture and Christian Theology”.

The unit brings biblical studies and systematic theology into conversation across Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant traditions. For 2027 we invite proposals for the following sub-sessions:

  1. Open Panel
  2. Author meets Critic: David F. Ford, The Gospel of John: A Theological Commentary (2021)
  3. Papers related to our trilogy on Scripture and theology (in development):
    a. Scripture and Theology in Practice: Histories and Practices of Theological Interpretation
    b. Scripture and Theology in Principle: Norms and Methods of Their Interrelation
    c. Scripture and Theology in Public: Engagement and Responsibility
  4. Seminar on Biblische Theologie – heute: The 40th Volume of the Jahrbuch für Biblische Theologie (no papers)
  5. Network and Strategy Session (those interested in taking part are asked to contact the organisers)

Abstracts of 200–300 words are submitted through the EABS portal, with an indication of the sub-session for which they are intended. Submission deadline: End of December. We particularly encourage proposals from Catholic and Orthodox scholars and from biblical scholars working at the interface of biblical studies and systematic theology.
